Medical college organizes utsav
The Mysore Medical College Alumni Association will conduct its annual 'MAA UTSAV 2011' at its Platinum Jubilee auditorium, JK Ground on December 10 and 11.
About 9,000 students who have passed out of the institution since it was started about a century ago, are expected participate in the event. The annual get-together will felicitate 20 senior doctors of the 1953 batch for their service to the community.
The event will be inaugurated by senior surgeon Dr TC Chandrashekar, vice-dean, Bangalore Medical College, at MMC Platinum Jubilee Auditorium on December 10 at 5pm. Annual general body meeting and elections and valedictory function will be held on December 11.
Dec 10: MAA oration will be presented by Dr R Nagarathna, dean, Yoga and Life Sciences, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA) University on 'Yoga in disease and health.' Dr Mahesh Bijawara, consultant spine surgeon, will speak on 'Complex spinal deformities-surgical approach.' Dr S Radhesh, chief of radiology, Clumax Diagnostics will speak on 'MRI guided 'HI FU' in the treatment of uterine fibroids.' Dr MS Vishweshwara, chief radiation oncologist, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, Mysore, will speak on 'Three decades of Radiation Therapy from deep X-ray to IMRT.'Dr GR Prashanth, consultant, department of nuclear medicine and PET CT, Bangalore Institute of Oncology, will speak on 'PET CT- An Introduction.'
Dec 11: Dr Thimappa Hegde, director and consultant neurosurgeon, Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of Neurosciences, Bangalore, will speak on 'Is there any meaning for suffering.' and Dr CG Narasimhan will present President's oration on 'Intra abdominal infections.'
